Get ready for a banquet of delicious design and decoration!
It’s one of the premier decorative dates in the year, and no wonder as the Roman City of Bath, with its splendid Georgian architecture, prepares for the 35th outing of the splendid Bath Decorative Antiques Fair from 15-16 March 2024, with a preview on Thursday 14 March.
Set in the Bath Pavilion, at the heart of the city, this vibrant event has been running for thirty-five years, the last fourteen under the direction of Sue Ede and Peter Hodder of Cooper Events, whose unrivalled experience and expertise are the bedrock of its popularity and success, along with other leading fixtures in Buxton, Harrogate and The Cotswolds.
On the Agenda for 2024
So, what can visitors expect to see this year in Bath?
From the beautiful designs of antique ceramics and furniture, through decorative works of art and architectural garden statuary to a wide selection of fine art, including Modern British painting and design.
Highlights will include grand painted cabinets, distinctive chateau furniture, commanding statuary, cast iron urns, and garden benches tailored for outdoor elegance. Discover farmhouse tables, rustic oak furniture, intriguing architectural elements, unique salvage pieces, and diverse lighting options. An opulent mix of antique textiles, intricate needleworks, and rugs sourced globally, complemented by a collection of folk art, mirrors, early glass, and English and Continental pottery will be on display.
“From Georgian to G-Plan, we have the best on offer for any discerning interior or garden,” says Sue.
As ever, the focus is on quality and originality, with sustainability playing an important part as the exhibitors show the practical elegance of tables, chairs and other furniture whose rich history has seen them pass through many hands.
Elham Antiques
Long-term exhibitors Elham Antiques (pictured above) never disappoint with grand scale country house painted dressers and cupboards and decorative pieces for the garden to create unique and beautiful relaxed homes and garden spaces.
The fair captures the essence of English and Continental gardens and rural charm with its selection of cast iron urns, garden benches and charming French bistro tables and chairs. These pieces, offered by respected dealers like Simon Wharton Antiques and No 1 Lewes (pictured below) bring a touch of the outdoors into the home.

Textile enthusiasts will find a rich palette of colours and textures to explore. Newcomer Su Mason Antique Textiles is a specialist in antique French linens and textiles from the 18th to 20th century. Returning exhibitor Rug Addiction, known for their captivating antique Persian & Kurdish rugs, will display a collection that spans the globe.
Art remains a vibrant component of the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair, with offerings that traverse time from solemn period portraits to the bright and bold strokes of modern art. A standout piece is a Swedish still life circa 1940 from Julian Green Gallery, representing the fair’s dedication to diverse artistic expressions that cater to every taste and many time periods.

Acknowledging the ever-strong presence of midcentury design, the fair welcomes collections Smith & Moon Interiors who delight in blending period pieces with the clean, functional aesthetics of the 20th century.
Simon Wharton Antiques
The fair features twenty-eight returning and eleven new exhibitors, including notable names like Dolly Daydream with an inspiring and eclectic mix of global antiques and ephemera and Jo’s Objects of Desire, who knows how to deck a stand with buyable vintage furniture and accessories for the home and garden.
Nick Waters Art, who also deals in midcentury furniture, and Shep’s Antiques, dealing in fine Continental furniture, will also be there, along with a wide range of decorative antiques. Wareham’s Antiques will display a collection of Swedish painted furniture.
Works of art include a wonderful selection of striking designs and colourful glass objects from Glass of All Ages.
